Get to Know Jess

I was born and raised in Canada and spent most of my upbringing in one of two places, either with my mum amidst the organized chaos of film sets or with my dad, roaming the aisles of my family’s community hardware store. From these experiences, I learned a few critical lessons that have become the foundation of the work I do today. My mum taught me that, even in times of high stress, tight timelines, and tight budgets, you can find a creative solution to any problem you’re faced with if you are relentlessly persistent and you’ve surrounded yourself with a team of people focused on achieving a common goal. Through our family business, my dad showed me that customer service isn’t simply about knowing the answer or having the right product, it’s about nurturing long-standing relationships built on trust.

My love for storytelling, especially through data, started during undergrad while studying behavioral neuroscience. I learned that the key to gaining insight into human behavior and motivations was not through quantitative data alone; it was hiding in plain sight in the stories and language we use to describe our lived experiences. Back then I could not have foreseen that over a decade later this love would continue to be fueled by discovering creative ways to authentically strengthen relationships between companies and their employees.

I currently live in Tacoma, WA in a house I own with my best friend, Abi. Between the two of us, we have two dogs, two cats, a lizard, and a 10-year-old, so there is no shortage of chaos, entertainment, laughter, and messes to clean up. Most days you’ll find me snuggling on the couch with my lovable 85lb rescue “lap dog” named Maple while scaring myself to death watching true crime documentaries.

My First Paycheck

As a kid, when I came to work with my mum, I got to make a little money refilling snacks at the craft service table (while sneaking all the candy).
